Benedek Borsos on the Taurus Mountain Race: live talk in Budapest
3 November 2026, 18:00, Mazel Tov, BudapestLive talk with Benedek Borsos. Places are limited to 80.
RegisterBenedek Borsos was at the front of the first Taurus Mountain Race when the organisers stopped it. On 3 November he tells the story in person, at Mazel Tov in Budapest.
The Taurus Mountain Race is a fixed-route, unsupported, single-stage race where the clock never stops. The 1,440 km route, with 35,000 m of climbing, runs from Antalya through Turkey's Taurus Mountains to the Mediterranean coast west of Mersin. Nearly 250 riders started on 14 October 2026.
Benedek rode at the front for three days, together with Justinas Leveika. Heavy rain and mud made the route dangerous, and landslides made the section beyond the second checkpoint impassable. The leaders were stopped at around km 885, near Pozantı, and the organisers then cancelled the race for safety reasons. The first edition of the race ended without a finish.
“The resolution was left out of this story. I was ready to go through anything, but this time there was no chance to. Hard to accept.”

The talk
Benedek is KLND's supported rider and the Hungarian ambassador of ultra-bikepacking. At Mazel Tov he talks about the race from the start in Antalya to the moment it was stopped. We are proud of how he rode and of how he handled the end of the race, and we stand behind him.
The conversation is moderated by Lili Chripkó, and it is recorded for the KLND Podcast.
