Hungarian Divide

The premier
Hungarian ultra-cycling event

The Hungarian Divide is the largest off-road cycling ultra event in Hungary, where you can explore the country over nearly 1,400 km, passing numerous historical landmarks through our mountains. The self-supported format offers an exciting blend of physical and mental challenge, where only the most prepared can make it to the end. Not everyone can be first, but everyone who finishes is a winner.

The Route of 2026

The route below is a plan based on last year's edition. The route will follow the same spirit as last year’s—an epic traverse of Hungary on rugged trails—but this time we’re shifting the direction: from the west in Szentgotthárd, across the country’s mountain ranges and remote off-road sections, to the finish in Rudabányácska. With nearly 1 400 km of self-supported adventure over demanding terrain, including steep climbs and technical tracks.

The Hungarian Divide is a true off-road cycling challenge and a once-in-a-lifetime adventure.

The clock never stops, and there are no prizes. The route takes you along dirt roads, gravel paths, trails, and forestry tracks rarely used by others. There will be sections where you’ll need to get off the bike, but overall, the terrain is not extremely difficult. We guarantee that the HD will challenge you with big questions and test you both physically and mentally. However, we’re not looking for the fastest riders — in the HD, everyone who reaches the finish line is a winner.

Testimonials

A route that tested every limit—and rewarded every rider. Competing in the Hungarian Divide challenged me like never before: from relentless climbs to tough descents, the terrain kept pushing my limits. Yet crossing the finish line felt like earning something truly earned.

From novice doubts to crossing 14,000 m of climbs with a grin. When I signed up, the distance and the climbing seemed impossible. Halfway through the trails, the pain was real—but so was the joy. The Hungarian Divide was the hardest ride I’ve ever done, and also the one I’m most proud of.

1400 km, 23,000 m elevation – and one unforgettable ride. This year I took on the full Hungarian Divide: 1400 km, nearly 23,000 m of elevation, self-supported across serious terrain. I’m not a pro—but crossing that finish line made me feel like one.
