The nature of the course
Description of the Race Course: Regarding the surface, the Mád gravel race is fast, not technical. Due to the elevation gain, it is a difficult, climbing course. There are short, steep climbs at many points where differences in strength become apparent.
Description of the Gravel Tour: The main consideration when designing the route was to showcase as much of the landscape as possible. We will pass through many settlements in the Tokaj Wine Region—these charming villages are nestled between the Bodrog River and the southwestern slopes of the Zemplén Mountains. Mád, Tállya, Erdőbénye, Olaszliszka, Szegi, Szegilong, Bodrogkisfalud, and Bodrogkeresztúr—even if we don't linger in all of them, a memory will remain with us from each: the sight of nesting storks, the atmosphere of wine culture, the smile of kind hosts, or the landscape stretching out like a model railroad in the shadow of Tokaj's Nagy-Kopasz hill. On some sections, we must conquer steep vineyard roads, elsewhere we will travel on forestry roads through shaded forests, or choose dirt roads leading across pastures. The route largely avoids busy roads, so you can truly focus only on carefree cycling and relaxation.
Feed zones
Race Distance
The course's single refreshment point will be set in the race center after the start/finish line. Water, isotonic drinks, sport gels, and sports bars will be available at the refreshment point. Personnel will not hand out refreshments; everything will be laid out on a table row.
Own refreshment: helpers may hand up personal bottles and refreshments, but only in the designated area in the race center. Handing up refreshments or providing technical assistance elsewhere on the course is prohibited.
In this refreshment zone, there will also be an opportunity to place spare parts and wheels. Changing any spare parts is permitted, but changing the bicycle during the race is not permitted. Technical assistance is not permitted; every participant may only repair/change parts themselves.
Tour Distance
We have arranged for two catering locations on the tour that will be waiting for you:
- Refreshment: at 30.2 km: Mondoha Erdőbénye
- Refreshment: at 60 km: Kikelet Pince
By presenting your race number, you are entitled to 1 refreshing drink at each station at these locations, and you can expect a cyclist-friendly welcome. You will be able to refill your bottles and safely park your bicycles. By making additional purchases, you also support the local hosts and the event, so please consume something extra if you can. Cheers!
New for 2026: On both the race and the tour, we will place a “KLND Tech kit” at the refreshment points and partner points, including a floor pump, spare inner tubes, basic tools, a first aid box, and a hygiene kit for female participants.
Finish Line Refreshment
At the finish line, we provide a spritzer (fröccs) or cordial (szörp) from a local producer and a small portion of post-race food for every finisher. Our partner restaurant, Édes Mádkám, will be an excellent opportunity for further dining and refreshment.
